Hanoi - Lao cai train stop at valley Lao cai, just 40 km from Sapa, so to reach Sapa you need to travel more 1 hour and a half by a public bus or private car. The bus stops at Sa Pa's main post office leaving you with a couple of minutes walk into town. From Sapa town it is aboVictoria Express Trainut 5' or 15' walk to your hotel. - Tulico train offers comfortable air-conditioned soft sleepers. It is good and clean cabin, especially the deluxe 2 berth cabin ( for 2 persons only) between Hanoi and Lao Cai. While this is is not a luxurious train it offers good alternative transportation to get to Sapa from Hanoi. It is soft sleeper, A.C and clean 4 berth cabin. The train provide you one bottle of water, small snack and a napkin.
